The Reptile House conserves and maintains Burmese Pythons, Reticulated Pythons, Banded Kraits, Vipers, Cobras, turtles, and lizards.
The Reptile House at the Yangon Zoological Gardens was established following the zoo's 1906 opening, but before the pre-war era. As one of the facility’s oldest standing structures, its colonial-style design emphasizes optimal ventilation for a tropical climate to create a cool environment. Around the year 2000, the exhibit underwent modernization that preserved its historical architecture while adding modern glass displays and improved air-cooling systems for better visibility. The building's layout specifically helps cold-blooded reptiles regulate their body temperature and humidity. For instance, large Burmese and Reticulated Pythons are provided with deep pools and balanced thermal environments, while species such as King Cobras, vipers, and cobras are housed in enclosures featuring ponds, shrubs, rocks, and small caves to meet their biological needs and enhance public viewing.
