Lifespan

Lives 25 to 30 years in the wild and can live up to 50 years longer with proper care in captivity.

Diet

The Oriental pied hornbill is omnivorous, feeding mainly on fruits (especially figs), as well as insects, small reptiles, frogs, and occasionally nestlings and small mammals.

Habitat

he Oriental pied hornbill lives in tropical and subtropical forests, riverine forests, mangroves, woodlands, plantations, and sometimes urban parks with large trees.

Geographic Range

The Oriental pied hornbill is found across South and Southeast Asia, including India, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore, and parts of Indonesia.

Characteristics

The Oriental pied hornbill is a medium-sized bird with a striking black-and-white body, white underparts and wing and tail tips, a large pale yellow bill with a prominent casque, males having a larger casque than females, red eyes in males and brown eyes in females
