Lifespan

In the wild, they can live up to 35–40 years. In captivity, is around 60 years.

Diet

They eat mainly fruits and leaves, but they also consume seeds, flowers, inner parts of plants, and roots.

Habitat

They inhabit tropical Island of Borneo (shared by Indonesia, Malaysia, and Brunei),lowland tropical rainforests, swamp forests, mountain forests

Geographic Range

They mainly inhabit the island of Borneo in Indonesia, Southeast Asia. They are found in tropical rainforests, swamp forests, and also in mountainous regions at elevations of over 4,900 feet.

Characteristics

They have thick and long reddish (or reddish-brown) fur. Their faces, palms, and soles are dark (or grayish) in color and hairless. The arms are longer than the legs. Like humans, they have thumbs, allowing them to grasp tree branches, and their feet also function like hands, capable of gripping objects. Males are about twice the size of females. Adult males are larger in body size and have cheek pads, while females are smaller and lack cheek pads.
